THE PIPPY PARK HERITAGE COMMITTEE

The Heritage Committee was established by the Pippy Park Commission in 1998 and consists of volunteer representatives of all the various groups such as, the Folklore Department of Memorial University, the Botanical Garden, the Friends of Pippy Park, the Grand Concourse Authority, the Provincial Historic Resources Division. and the residents of the Park, all of whom have an interest in the natural or cultural heritage of the area.

The Committee is Chaired by a member of the Pippy Park Commission.

The Committee's objectives are to research, conserve, interpret and promote public knowledge and interest in the rich heritage, both cultural and natural, that is associated with the land now designated as Pippy Park. Funds are raised, research students are hired, and photographs, documents and artifacts are collected, catalogued and stored. Brochures and displays are also prepared. A long term goal of the committee is have an Interpretation Centre.
